A “Life Certificate” or “Jeevan Pramaan” is a certificate issued by the government of India to Indian pensioners, certifying that the pensioner is alive & receiving pension benefits. The certificate is used to ensure that pension benefits are only being paid to living pensioners, and to prevent fraud. The certificate can be obtained through a variety of methods, including visiting a designated government office in person, or through the use of a digital certificate via the Jeevan Pramaan website or mobile app.
The Jeevan Pramaan certificate is a digital certificate, which means it is an electronic document that is stored and verified electronically. This certificate is issued to pensioners of Central, State Governments, & Autonomous Bodies. It is used to authenticate the pensioner’s identity to confirm that they are alive and continue to be eligible to receive pension benefits.
The certificate can be obtained by visiting a designated government office in person & providing biometric information, such as fingerprints, iris scans, or by using the Jeevan Pramaan website or mobile app. The digital certificate can be generated using the pensioner’s Aadhaar number with biometric information. Once the certificate is generated, it can be used to verify the pensioner’s identity & confirm that they are alive, without the need for them to visit a government office in person.
The Jeevan Pramaan certificate is valid for a period of one year, after which it must be renewed. Pensioners are required to obtain a new certificate every year to continue receiving their pension benefits. This requirement is to ensure that the pension benefits are only being paid to living pensioners to prevent fraud.
Jeevan Pramaan certificate is mainly used by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DPPW) of the Government of India. This department is responsible for the administration of pension schemes for Central Government employees & pensioners. Other departments such as Department of Posts, Department of Telecommunications, and Department of Atomic Energy also use Jeevan Pramaan certificate for pensioners.
Many State Governments & Autonomous bodies like Universities, Public sector undertakings, n Local bodies also use Jeevan Pramaan certificate for pensioners.
The pensioners who are receiving pension from different departments are required to obtain a Jeevan Pramaan certificate to continue receiving their pensions benefits.
